MOFFETT, Maxwell B.

I was a Company aid man in E Company, 115th Infantry, 29th Division. Every night I would pray to God to get me home safe and sound to see my mother who had serious health problems at the time I was sent overseas. God kept me safe for I never got hit or injured on D-Day or the rest of my time in the ETO.

I got home in October, 1945 and found that my mother had one kidney removed. My mother died in June of 1946 so God did answer my prayers.

I pray for mothers and wives who have lost their sons and husbands in this cold cruel world. I hope that God will help them as he helped me.

Please excuse my writing for I will be 88 next year.

(Editor’s Note: The 29th Infantry Division fought in Normandy, June 6 (Invasion Arrowhead) to July 24, 1944; Northern France from July 25 to September 14, 1944; in the Rhineland from September 15, 1944 to March 21, l945; and in Central Europe from March 22 to May 11, 1945.)
